The failures we see at this age

Equipment eight to fifteen years old fails at the parts that move and the parts that seal: evaporator fans, defrost components, door gaskets, igniters and control relays. These are ordinary repairs. The mistake is letting one run long enough to take the sealed system with it.

A unit still under manufacturer warranty should be repaired free by the brand. If yours is only a year or two old, we will tell you that rather than take the trip — the data tag inside the freezer door will say.
