Star Burner ports blocked
Thermador's star-shaped burner ports are the brand's signature and they clean differently from a round port ring — the points trap boil-over that a quick wipe misses. The result is a flame that lights on one side and creeps round, or will not carry at all.
Continuous clicking after a spill
Moisture in the spark switch keeps the igniter firing even once a burner is lit. Common after a boil-over on sealed-burner Thermador tops, and it is a safety item rather than a nuisance — the spark module should not be left firing.
ExtraLow simmer not holding
Thermador's low-simmer settings cycle the burner rather than running it continuously. When the cycling control or the valve drifts, the symptom is scorching on a setting that used to hold chocolate or sauce, not a dead burner.
Induction zone dead, others fine
On Thermador induction a single dead zone usually points to that zone’s coil or its flex connector, not the whole board. Each zone gets tested independently before anything is quoted — boards on induction tops are among the pricier parts on the appliance.
Pan not recognised on induction
Induction needs ferrous cookware and a minimum base diameter. Before condemning electronics we confirm the pan actually couples — a surprising share of "induction not working" calls are cookware, not the cooktop.
